I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Came to the U.S. when I was 16, and that's when I met Penny in high school. Definitely one of the highlights in my life to keeping our friendship.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Being a single mom and raising my two kids on my own and having the privilege to watch them grow up and becoming outstanding human beings.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
Aside from motherhood, I guess when I was a competitive swimmer in my childhood and won many tournaments.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Going to the beach and going shopping.
What are you passionate about?
Nature. Just feel at peace when I'm around nature and I'm the happiest.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I thrive to be a better person every day now and definitely care more about my wellbeing and my health.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Don't be too hard on yourself. Embrace your beliefs and trust your intuition, even if you're wrong you can learn from it.
Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?
God, grant me serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
You become more secure and have more knowledge about life in general.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My grandma. Because she taught me many valuable things about having good character and good morals.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
I can't really say one lesson because I feel like I've had many lessons that I've learned the hard way. And I'm just grateful I have overcome them and become a stronger person and smarter to hopefully make better decisions in the future.
Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
I enjoyed very much having this photoshoot, especially because I did it with my really good friends Lori, Royanne, and Penny, the photographer. It doesn't get any better than that, having the support of your friends.
What would you tell someone who's considering doing this but feels unsure?
Been there! But thanks to Penny's encouragement, patience and super professionalism it was very easy to navigate.

I am now 57, 4 years after my "40 over 40" photo shoot. I gifted myself that experience after going on a health journey and lifestyle overhaul. During the shoot, I felt on top of the world and thought life couldn't get any better. I was feeling the best I ever had physically and emotionally! Coaching others to transform their own health became a passion. 4 years later, there are even more layers of richness in my life. I have a few more gray hairs and wrinkles, which I embrace as tokens of aging gracefully. Some weight has deposited itself on my frame again, most of it muscle. I started running and completed my first half marathon on my 57th birthday. I am less concerned with changing others, more with choosing happiness each day. Life doesn't have to be IG perfect to be wonderful.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Hysterectomy at 41, got married at 43, gained 100 pounds over the next 5 years and saw my health deteriorate. Became quietly desperate that I was unable to change anything about myself, until a friend introduced me to the Optaviahealth program that enabled me to shed 100 pounds ánd a lifetime of unhealthy habits and negative self-talk. In my 50ies, I am the healthiest and happiest I have ever been on all levels. Not perfect, but human and owning it. This has allowed me to have more to give to others.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
Giving up self-defeating thinking patterns that kept me stuck.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Doing something that makes me feel strong, like running or weightlifting.
What are you passionate about?
Helping people see the beauty in their imperfect selves.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
Age with grace while staying active and strong and kind.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
That we're over the hill! No way, we're on top of the hill!
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
I still have the same mantra I shared the first time: I am a woman I am strong I am a warrior I am a river of life I am love I am light I am life.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
You become more secure and have more knowledge about life in general.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
I can't really say one lesson because I feel like I've had many lessons that I've learned the hard way. And I'm just grateful I have overcome them and become a stronger person and smarter to hopefully make better decisions in the future.
Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
4 years later, I continue to share my images regularly. Women love them and many friends have done their own shoot with Penny. The photoshoot catapulted my confidence into the stratosphere and opened up so many opportunities for connection and growth. I met fascinating women who became friends.
What would you tell someone who's considering doing this but feels unsure?
Penny has a way of guiding you gently and without pressure until you are able to let go and just fly.

I'm a joyful and healthy 53-year-old! I love visiting theme parks with my daughter, diving into crime novels, and volunteering at the local shelter. This year, my husband and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary, and next year, we'll be proud to mark 10 wonderful years in the US. I work from home for a Google subcontractor and also handle the administration at our own classic car shop, Bullitt Classic Cars.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Moving to the US at age 45 was quite a big challenge for me. We had created a wonderful life in Belgium, with a successful business and many friends. Leaving all of that behind was a huge adventure, and I felt completely uprooted during that first year in the States. Looking back after ten years, I’m glad we made that decision, but I also told my husband I never want to go through it all again.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My proudest moment in life was seeing my daughter graduate from USF. She has blossomed into a bright, independent, and strong woman. Nothing seems to hold her back, and her confidence and determination are truly inspiring to me.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Celebrating myself doesn’t happen often, but I absolutely love relaxing on the pool deck with a good book — it’s such a wonderful way to treat myself! Getting a relaxing massage is also a wonderful second option to consider!
What are you passionate about?
I'm really dedicated to my health and fitness journey. I hit the gym three days a week and also work out at home another three days—that balance keeps me energized. To me, a healthy mind lives in a healthy body, and that's my guiding belief. The gym feels like my personal therapy; whenever I’m feeling a bit low, I know a great workout will instantly lift my spirits by a thousand percent.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
What changed for me is that I am no longer ambitious; I now believe that being happy with what you have in the moment is more important. Always looking ahead to the future might cause you to lose sight of the wonderful things happening right now. I lost my father and brother last year, and in hindsight, I wish I could have been more present for them.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Absolutely, there's no need to act like a grown-up after 40—keep that adventurous, fun spirit alive and act as wild as you did at 20. I believe that letting go of all expectations and simply being yourself becomes even more enjoyable after you've passed 40 (and 50).
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Embrace the present, cherish your blessings, and stay focused on the good things. If someone tries to bring you down or fills your space with negativity, gently let them go. Remember, surrounding yourself with positivity helps you thrive.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
As we get older, our skin might begin to wrinkle and some body parts may sag, but honestly, life becomes so much more interesting and fulfilling. I couldn’t imagine trading places with a younger woman at all.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
To be more present in the moment, I focus on the here and now rather than constantly thinking about the next goal. In the past, I often missed out on many truly meaningful moments, but I'm learning to appreciate them more now.
Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
It did not have a huge impact, but it did give my confidence a boost.
What would you tell someone who's considering doing this but feels unsure?
Just go for it! Penny really makes you feel comfortable, and the results are truly amazing.

First and foremost, I am a single parent of three amazing young adults, and 2 rescue dogs, Rocky and Rambo. I’ve been described as a highly accomplished and empathetic attorney who is recognized for my legal expertise, leadership, and commitment to mentorship and inclusion. I’ve built my practice on a foundation of perseverance and personal integrity, earning respect as a rising IP and business law lawyer in the State of Florida- and as a role model for women and diverse attorneys.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
There are so many. Some of the challenges I have had since I’ve turned 40 are as follows: Balancing business ownership with single parent demands which leads to burnout and chronic exhaustion; going it alone without a support network or partner to share in domestic and emotional labor; difficulty in finding access to capital, and experiencing gender and race based barriers in this white male dominated world. Some of the successes I’ve had since then is as follows: I’ve graduated law school despite getting a divorce and the challenges of raising three kids, and my rescue dogs on my own, passed the Florida Bar after 3 attempts, successfully argued before the Florida Bar, mentored over a dozen students, became a subject matter expert in the areas of Intellectual Property Law and Business Law, lectured at several universities, moderated and lectured for the Florida Bar, most recently moved into Central Florida in a brand new home and am driving my first brand new car.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
Having my beautiful babies, saving my rescue dogs, getting into law school, earning my juris doctorate degree, becoming the valedictorian of my law school, earning my MBA, summa cum laude, earning my bachelors degree, magna cum laude, passing the Florida Bar exam after a few attempts, opening up my own law firm and brick and mortar location, and continuing to defy the odds.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Self-care, massage, nails, vacation, good cocktail or champagne.
What are you passionate about?
Justice and walking and fulfilling the purpose that God has placed on my life.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
My ambitions have grown since 40 and I aspire to expand into 3-4 other states.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Don’t give up. It’s never too late.
Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?
Luke 6:38 – "Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put in your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you."
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
Embrace it. It is inevitable. Take good care of yourself.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
You can’t depend on anyone but God. He never fails and His timing is perfect.

I'm a multifaceted individual. Sometimes, when I look back on my life so far, my life experiences are all over the map. My husband was the one to point out to me that it seems I have lived multiple full lives in my less than 5 decades. At the moment, I'm a happily married 47 year old, mother of four grown adults, and soon to be grandma next year!
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?Shortly after I turned 40, I had a life-altering moment. Two of my children were over 18, and the other two were teenagers not far behind. I had just closed a business, and was reeling from some financial issues. I was dating a man, who ended up becoming jealous, and then it escalated into violence very quickly, with there being one incident where he had strangled me, then as I was attempting to leave, he pulled his gun on me, pointing it at my head, and clicking the safety off while screaming obscenities at me as I stood in the doorway of his home.
In that moment, I can remember the clearest thoughts and actions. Without losing my eye contact, in the moment, I thought to myself, "If he's going to shoot me, he's going to go to jail, because I'm gonna shift my body to make him shoot me in the back", and doing exactly that. After I was able to leave somewhat safely, I endured the process of filing a police report and enduring a terror I would never wish on anyone. This is a VERY short version of the story, but the important part to walk away with is, you never really know how strong your will to survive is, until you're faced with it head-on.
I'm not just a survivor, I'm a fighter - one who will stand tall in the face of adversity. I couldn't believe that I hadn't seen some of the warning signs, but in retrospect, they were there, I was just painting those waving red flags pink.
I tell the story because it's important for people to know that even the strongest women can be misled, or have moments of weakness where we don't want to admit defeat. It's important for everyone to know that type of behavior is not tolerated and should never be. It's important to remove the shame for those experiencing or who have experienced Domestic Violence. There is such a better opportunity ahead when you know your own worth, and stand stronger in your own truth.What are your proudest moments in your life?I'm a very proud mother to four grown adults. Life has been full of ups and downs over the years, but the ups are always watching my children thrive and grow as their own independent people. I have raised loving, thoughtful, and truly wonderful adults. That is and will likely always be my greatest life achievement.What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?Celebrating myself? I guess I prefer just spending quality time with my husband and by the water's edge. Celebrating yourself can be and should be done on a regular basis. Honoring your heart, honoring yourself, respecting yourself. Pampering yourself. Mothering yourself. Fill the cup that you pour from with whatever you need at the time to fill it.What are you passionate about?I'm passionate about people and community. I was raised where the "Golden Rule" applied first and foremost.How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?I think my life has shifted dramatically. As my children grew up and left the house, I finally had the opportunity to think seriously about what I wanted to do with my "next 40" years, and for the first time, do something because I "wanted to", not because I had to pay the bills or raise kids. My husband was instrumental in supporting me no matter what I dreamed up. Currently, I am enjoying being a part of my local community and speaking up on behalf of the residents whom I serve as City Commissioner. It's way more than a "part time" position for me, but that is most definitely by my own choice, as I have this drive within me to make things better overall.Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?Life truly begins at 40. Growing up, I remember all the "over the hill" messaging with turning 40, and I somehow- against all practicality- thought that turning 40 was going to be this life altering moment where I would suddenly shrivel up and be "old". I knew that wasn't necessarily true, but I had a mental hangup about it. I had a list of things I wanted to do before I turned 40, etc... I even remember CRYING the night before my birthday, having a hormonal pity party for the end of my 30s. Looking back now, I just laugh.If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?Believe in yourself and your gut above all else. Your head can confuse you, your heart can mislead you, but your gut will always lead you in the right direction.Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?One that I've repeated to myself is a Japanese proverb. It resonates with anyone who also remembers the "Weeble Wobbles" toys and song from our childhood (It's on YouTube). The proverb is: "Fall down seven times. Stand up eight." - I align it with "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down..."Life will knock you clear on your rear. But it's never about the fall, it's about the rise. Have the faith and strength to get up. Every time. The rise is where you get the life lesson.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?It's a beautiful, frustrating, and comical process.
The absolute second you start feeling comfortable in your skin, it changes again. As a teen, you're concerned with body changes, as an adult woman in her prime, you're concerned with all things from motherhood changes to just being comfortable in your own mind and body. As a middle-aged woman (I will never call myself old until I turn 80, as that was my rule for my grandmother too), you have lived enough to know yourself, and know that you're constantly learning, but you value your existing life lessons. You know that you have to let go of your pride, and learn how to ask for help, to lean on others. You learn how to be more selective in what and who you allow in your "space", how you set your personal boundaries, and how you'll continue to do so. You learn that it's easier to give grace to not only others, but to yourself. Aging can be done gracefully, and it's not about the exterior, it's truly about the interior.
And remember this, we're lucky to age. Many people are denied the opportunity.Who is a woman who inspires you and why?I can't truly pinpoint just one woman. The reality is that I'm constantly inspired by strong women. I realize that there have been so many strong women that I have met at times when I needed them most, and it's the collective spirit of womanhood, that we really can and do rise together to help build one another up, rather than tear other women down. There have been family members, teachers, friends, strangers, and public speakers or authors. The important part for me is the woman who shares of herself in an honest and open way with the intention of just connecting and building up others. I see inspiration often, but I also am open to seeing how people - especially other women - share their unique gifts with the world.What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?Stop being stubborn and prideful. The second I realized that I was often the blockage in my "issues", by refusing to ask for help or thinking that others would think less of me, is likely when I realized that the more open and welcoming you are to allow others to help you, the more the world opens up to you. I think we have to remember that the gifts we're given are more enjoyed when shared with others, much like a great meal and bottle of wine.
I'm grateful that I learned to be more open and receptive. It's really amazing what happens in your life when you do!What would you tell someone who's considering doing this but feels unsure?Take time to celebrate who you are today, and take the opportunity to see yourself in a few different lights. After 40, wellness, anti-aging, healthy eating, and staying active became more than just goals—they became a lifestyle. I’m proud to have launched my own ministry and business, and I’m committed to walking in health—spirit, soul, and body—as I lead by example and empower others to do the same.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My proudest moment was finding Christ at 21. In my twenties, I became a flight attendant; in my thirties, I led in luxury retail and med spa management. Now, in my forties—married and grounded in purpose—I’ve launched a ministry and wellness business to share God’s hope through my personal testimony, events, books, and creative films.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I always enjoy a good self-care day—nothing beats a relaxing spa visit or a soothing massage!What are you passionate about?
Faith, women’s ministry, beach days—and most of all, my sweet husband!
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I’m focused on seeking God’s will for my life, spending time in His presence, and praising Him for His goodness. My priority is putting the spiritual first and living from a place of faith and surrender.Are there any myths you would like to bust about the over 40s?
You’re not old—you’re wiser, more grounded, and more established. Honestly, it’s even better than your twenties, when you were still figuring life out.If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?

Take care of your body while you’re young—don’t smoke, stay hydrated, protect your skin from the sun. All those “annoying” things your mom told you? Do them. One day, you’ll be glad you listened.Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My mom, my friend, and inspiring women of faith like Terri Savelle Foy, Joyce Meyer, and Gloria Copeland have all helped shape my walk with God. Each one, in her own way, has poured wisdom and encouragement into my journey.What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
It’s hard to fully trust people—even with good intentions, they can let you down. I’m sure I’ve disappointed someone too. That’s why I choose to trust God above all and give to others freely, without expecting anything in return.Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?

I'm originally from Pittsburgh, PA, but residing in Brooklyn, NY for 21 years. I work as a Dietetic Technician at a small community hospital in NYC. I live alone and have 2 feline fur babies, Cinnamon and Sage. When life's duties aren't calling, I'm either traveling or hanging out with family and friends.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?Being on my own after 19 years of having a significant other was a challenge. Earning my degrees and having a great professional career is a great accomplishment for me and a success.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
One of the proudest moments in my life is when I returned to college at 35 and earned 2 degrees by 40.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
The favorite way I celebrate myself is to travel.
What are you passionate about?
I'm passionate about traveling.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
My ambitions changed in the sense that I'm not striving for professional success anymore as I'm happy and comfortable where I am. Since turning 40, at this stage in my life I'm aspiring for overall peace, joy, and happiness and to grow closer to God so I can live out my purpose and have the abundant and fulfilling life He always had planned for me.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
A myth that I'd like to bust about women over their 40's is that their starting to get old. I think life in and over your 40's is just getting started. You're more mature and had some life experiences so you know what you want.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Love yourself. Be bold. Be courageous. Live your life to the fullest. Do what makes you happy. And no matter what happens in life, know that God is with you and will never leave or forsake you. Love God and have faith.
Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?
No, I don't. But I always remember what a very close male friend of mine told me some years ago and I've never forgotten it. He said, "Love yourself".
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
What I want younger women to know about aging is to embrace it. It's beautiful! You become wiser and more comfortable with yourself and who you are. You're not worried about other's perception of you. Age gracefully, and love yourself!
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My grandmother, who's also my mother is the woman who inspires me. She was a mother of 7 with a 10th grade level education and no work experience. When my grandfather left her and the children with a mortgage to pay and no money or job, she had no support and had to learn how to make a life for herself and children. She taught me to be independent, strong, and resilient.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
One lesson that I've learned the hard way that I'm now grateful for is to not put your wants over your needs.

Emilia Diraddo, retired licensed estheticianI was born in Cuba, and life taught me early on to be resourceful, compassionate, and strong. I’ve always believed in caring deeply for others — whether it was through my career in skincare, raising a family, or simply sharing natural health wisdom with my community. Even now in my 70s, I feel vibrant, curious, and inspired every day to keep learning and growing.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?One of the biggest challenges was continuing to adapt and thrive as the beauty industry changed, but I kept learning — integrating nutrition, wellness, and non-invasive tools into my practice. A major success has been hearing clients say, even years later, how much I helped them feel confident and radiant. Also, taking charge of my own health — through natural remedies, diet, and mindful living — has been a lifelong success.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
Raising my children, building a loyal skincare clientele from scratch, and having people look at me in my 70s and say, “You glow!” are proud moments. I’m also proud of never stopping — I continue to share, create, and dream.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
A beautiful walk outdoors, treating my skin to a facial ritual, a healthy green soup, or doing a spontaneous TikTok video to share tips that might help someone else.
What are you passionate about?
Helping women feel beautiful and powerful at any age. I’m passionate about skincare, health from the inside out, storytelling, and inspiring people to age with grace and vitality.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
In my 40s, I was focused on growing my career and being the best at my craft. Now, I want to tell stories — my own, my family’s, my roots in Cuba — and maybe even help others tell theirs. Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My mother. She was elegant, proud, and always put love into everything — her food, her appearance, her presence. Her strength still inspires me today.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
That boundaries are essential — in work, in family, in self-care. Learning to say no with love was difficult, but liberating.

What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40? Challenges I’ve Faced Since Turning 40:
• Confronting Deep Personal Loss My 40s began with a kind of emotional reckoning. I experienced the death of relationships—both literal and symbolic. Letting go of family ties that no longer served me was heartbreaking but necessary. Estrangement, grief, and the loneliness that follows forced me to find strength in solitude.
• Navigating Chronic Illness My body spoke loudly in my 40s. Years of suppressed emotions and overextension manifested in chronic health issues I could no longer ignore. I had to listen. I had to learn how to heal—not through quick fixes, but by slowly unraveling the pain stored in my fascia and nervous system.
• Being a Single Mother While Running a Business Raising two daughters while leading a boutique fitness and wellness studio isn’t for the faint of heart. There were days I taught classes with a baby strapped to my chest and nights I cried wondering how I’d do it all again tomorrow. But I did. Every single day.
• Facing Copycats and Industry Noise As the wellness industry exploded, I found myself surrounded by fast-paced, flashy studios that prioritized image over integrity. It was (and still is) a challenge to hold the line—to remain rooted in authenticity, even when competitors try to mimic what took me years to build.

2. Opening Core 954 Starting Core 954 wasn’t just a business move—it was a declaration. A single mom, building a wellness studio rooted in healing and truth, without outside investors or shortcuts. I built this space from my body, my pain, my passion. And a decade later, it’s still changing lives.
3. Teaching Over 50,000 Classes That number carries weight. Not just the hours, but the moments—when a client cried from finally feeling again, or when someone recovering from surgery moved without pain for the first time. I don’t just teach movement. I teach people how to come home to themselves.

Myths I’m Here to Bust About Women Over 40
1. That we’re past our prime. Absolutely not. I’ve never felt more powerful, more embodied, or more clear than I do now. Women over 40 aren’t fading—we’re rising. We’ve lived enough to know who we are and wise enough to stop apologizing for it.
2. That our bodies are supposed to break down. No. Our bodies are speaking—not deteriorating. Most of what we call “aging” is really the result of years of suppression, stress, and disconnection. Through fascia healing, breath, and alignment, we can reclaim strength, flexibility, and vibrancy—at any age.
3. That we need to look young to be worthy. We don’t need filters, Botox, or to shrink ourselves to be relevant. I’ve been a model for over 35 years, and the most magnetic beauty I’ve ever seen is authenticity. When a woman stands in her truth, she glows—and no cream or procedure can replicate that.
4. That motherhood makes us less ambitious. Motherhood has made me more ambitious—because I now lead with legacy, not ego. I want my daughters to see what’s possible when a woman refuses to dim her light or abandon herself for anyone.
5. That it’s too late to start over. Some of my biggest transformations happened after 40—physically, emotionally, spiritually. I admire my Aunt Cathy deeply… she’s been a steady, loving presence in my life for as long as I can remember. She took me under her wing when I was young, and our bond has always been built on unwavering trust, safety, and unconditional love. As a nurse, she spent her life caring for others with compassion, strength, and humility—never asking for praise, always showing up. Even in retirement, she continues to lead with grace. I admire her not just for what she’s done, but for who she is: nurturing, selfless, wise, and the kind of woman I aspire to be.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
I learned the hard way that self-abandonment can wear many masks—success, loyalty, love, even strength.
For years, I poured into everyone else. Clients. Family. Partners. I stayed in relationships too long. I kept the peace while losing pieces of myself. I thought if I just worked harder, loved deeper, held on tighter—I’d be safe. I’d be chosen.
But the truth is: no amount of overgiving can make someone see your worth if you don’t see it yourself first.
It wasn’t one moment that taught me. It was years of exhaustion. Of feeling unseen in spaces I was giving my whole heart to. Of feeling disconnected from my own body while helping everyone else heal theirs.
The lesson? Choose yourself. Sooner. Listen when your body whispers—before it has to scream. Walk away when your nervous system says, “This isn’t safe.” Set the boundary even if your voice shakes.
Because abandoning yourself for love, approval, or belonging will always cost more than it gives.
Now I choose differently.
Now I stay rooted in me.
And I’ll never lose myself again—not even for the version of love I once thought I needed.

Since turning 40 (Yikes I'm 66 now!), one of my greatest challenges has been learning how to prioritize myself—not just in moments of rest, but in how I make decisions, protect my peace, and say “no” without guilt. As women, especially in Native communities, we often carry so much—family, culture, responsibility, community—and learning to honor myself as deeply as I honor others has been both difficult and healing.

We’ve built wisdom, resilience, and clarity—and we’re more than capable of pivoting, leading, starting new ventures, or taking bold risks. Reinvention is not only possible, it’s powerful. 2. “You should have it all figured out by now.” Life doesn’t follow a straight path. Growth is ongoing, and evolving at any age is a sign of strength, not confusion. It’s okay to still be learning, trying, healing, dreaming. 3. “You’re past your prime.” That’s a myth rooted in ageism and sexism. Many women over 40 are just beginning to speak with their fullest, most authentic voices—bringing experience, confidence, and emotional intelligence to everything they do. 4. “You can’t keep up with the pace of change.” In reality, women over 40 are often driving the change—especially in communities, education, and leadership. We’re adaptable, tech-savvy, and well-equipped to mentor and innovate. 5. “You should tone it down.” No. This is the time to show up fully—unapologetically. Aging is not something to fear—it’s something to honor. Every year that passes, you become more of yourself. The noise quiets, the pressure softens, and what once felt urgent begins to feel clear. You’ll care less about what others expect and more about what your spirit requires. Your beauty won’t fade—it will evolve. It will show up in your voice, your wisdom, your boundaries, your laughter lines, and your sacred “no.” I love my gray hair!!

I'm inspired by so many women, but I would have to say my late mother most importantly. Dorothy Ann Palmer, the most courageous and strongest woman I know who gave birth to 9 beautiful children and she made us who we are today.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
Saying no! It's okay to say no, it's been a hard lesson for me but sometimes you have to think about what is best for YOU!

What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?At 41, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. At 44, I had a full abdominal (open) hysterectomy to remove several fibroids that had grown very large rather quickly. It was a scary few months, as my medical team couldn't be sure whether I had fibroids or late-stage leiomyosarcoma (uterine cancer) until my surgery. I was lucky: it was just fibroids. But the fibroids had commandeered virtually my entire abdominal cavity, and the overcrowding had wreaked havoc on my body.
After my hysterectomy, I assumed that everything would magically return to "normal" with my health and fitness. But as a mid-40s woman whose body had gone through an ordeal, it wasn't as easy as I'd hoped. So about a year after my hysterectomy, I went back to my GP to investigate. I'm fortunate to have a really great GP who worked with me to figure out what we could tweak, and I very quickly began feeling better and got back into the gym. Soon thereafter, I added an endocrinologist to my regular providers and began HRT, which I highly recommend for all eligible women.
I have closely followed the emerging science on perimenopause and exercise science, and have always been my own best advocate, working with my medical providers rather than relying solely on them. After all, I am the one living in my body. I have the most data on my health. It's my responsibility to educate myself so that I can be a model patient... and so I have done so!
At 46, I got re-certified as a personal trainer and nutrition coach, and stepped up my commitment from strength training to bodybuilding. For me, strength training has been transformative, both physically and mentally. It is hard to overstate how calming it has been for my anxiety (an all-too-common symptom of perimenopause for so many women). Stepping from strength training to bodybuilding was another transformation, as my strength training took on an element of craftsmanship to build a very specific physique. I'm genuinely enjoying the process and the practice of bodybuilding so much more than I ever expected to.
And now, at 47, I am preparing for my first bodybuilding competition later this year!
What are your proudest moments in your life?
• Earning my second bachelor's degree in cellular neuroscience in 2019 (at age 41)• Summiting Mt. Katahdin (the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail) after 2,192 miles of hiking, also in 2019 (also at age 41).
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Going to the gym! It's my investment in myself and my "me time".
What are you passionate about?
I think that the most important things to invest in are people and experiences, so you could say that I am passionate about *community*—the intersection of people and experiences.I am also a committed animal lover, and am fairly well known for taking in or taking care of random animals (in addition to my own menagerie of animal friends).
But my latest "passion project" of sorts is to motivate as many of my women friends as possible to take charge of their health and wellness so that we can age fabulously. I have no interest in aging gracefully! I want to run, jump, and lift into "old age", and I want as many of my friends as possible to do so with me.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I moved around quite a bit in my 20s and 30s and explored the country and the world. Now back in my hometown in my 40s, I am much more focused on my local community, where I have deeper ties and can make a greater impact. I want to help make my communities better in whatever ways I can.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
The myth that it's all downhill for women after 40 is nonsense! This is my best decade yet.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Be your own best advocate. You have the most data on yourself, and the most stake in your own outcomes. Take ownership of those outcomes by paying attention, asking questions, and adjusting behaviors when and where possible.
Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?
It is easier to sustain momentum than it is to sustain motivation. You only have to start once—just don't quit!
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
Take care of your body! It's the only one you get for the rest of your life. The way you treat it now may not show up for decades, but your regular habits today are an investment in your future wellness and function.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
Cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead was highly educated, challenged conventions, and inspired action. She is the originator of my favorite quote: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
Two lessons, somewhat related: (1) We are what we consistently do, and (2) Wellness is a long game. So many people eat poorly in their teens, twenties, and thirties, thinking that they can "get away" with it because they're young and active. And then it catches up with us in our forties and beyond. Or conversely, people start working out or eating better, but expect results in weeks, when the changes that are happening often take months or years to show up. Be consistent—in all things: fitness and nutrition, self-care, friendships, career... the world knows us by the habits that define us.
Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
I make an effort to regularly do things that push me beyond my comfort zone, and this definitely did so, so I would say yes: the photoshoot did expand my comfort zone a bit, building my confidence somewhat. I suspect seeing the photos and the magazine will expand this element of the experience, too. This was so much fun.
What would you tell someone who's considering doing this but feels unsure?I thought this would be more nerve-wracking and awkward, but Penny made the experience very comfortable and so much fun. I'm so glad I did this!

The past decade has been a roller coaster of challenges and successes both personally and business wise. Anyone who starts their own business, understands it is a sometimes painful yet beautiful process.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
Weathering the challenges with a flexible, and positive attitude.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Self-care. For me that is just slowing down, spending time in nature, and the occasional spa treat. It’s so important to just slow down and take both physical and mental care of yourself.
What are you passionate about?
Humanity, fairness and doing the right thing in any circumstance.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
My 40s were all about moving forward and succeeding. Today I am less inclined to “set the world on fire”. Finding a work/life balance is the new goal.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
In today’s image obsessed society, women worry about physical appearance and growing old. But my philosophy is: you are never going to be as young and beautiful as you are right now in this moment. Celebrate it!
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Believe in yourself. Rely on yourself. Trust yourself. But be willing to accept help, and advise. You are a sail boat at sea, and you can always adjust your sails.

What do you want younger women to know about aging?
Educate yourself about the inevitable changes that are coming for your body. Talk to friends, talk to your doctor. Too many women get to 50 and are completely blindsided by the aging process. My hope is that changes.

What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
It’s ok to fail.

I come from a family of storytellers, who are genuinely very curious about people. We enjoy getting to know them, understand them and ultimately uplift them or consult them. We are also protectors of people. We don’t like to see others wronged. This is born out of our love for God and likely also from my military upbringing. My father served in the Air Force 20-years, which allowed us to travel around the world and country, yes meeting hundreds of people along the way.
As a news producer and media strategist those principles are at the forefront of everything I do. “Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.” That sums it up.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Life really took a new direction at 40. I gave birth to my 1st child. The second at 42. So, 40 was like starting a brand new life. I THOUGHT I was giving up my career to be a stay at home mom, but instead launched my 1st business, a line of inspirational handmade greeting cards, called “God’s Girl Greetings.” It gave me balance. Coming out of working in newsrooms for over 20-years to motherhood was insane. The inability to literally move for hours to keep my sleeping children from waking or the horrors of potty training my son nearly broke me! What??? Nobody talks about that when everyone’s encouraging you to have kids. The cards took me back to encouraging others. I would sell them at Farmer’s Markets, which allowed me to interact with people and also got me out the house. Ultimately, as I spoke to more and more people, their stories would lead me back to my profession and a desire to consult others in media strategy. I wrote my handbook “How to Get Television News Coverage. It’s Easier Than You Might Think.” Media Strategy, turned into Media Production and a thriving Digital News Agency! Yep, full circle.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
Accepting Christ as my Savior, getting married, having children, starting and sustaining my businesses and becoming a “Marquis Who’s Who in America,” inductee for my dedication to the field of News Media Production.What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?

Turning 40 marked the season of refinement of my roles and my identity. This meant that all of my relationships were affected because I was required to face the lingering parts of my psyche where I was still hiding my own brilliance. The biggest shift isn't about reaching new heights. It was about releasing what no longer works for me. I began eliminating what was once tolerated: watered-down messaging, energy leaks, and outdated dynamics. I’ve become clearer, sharper, and quieter, in the best ways. This is me redefining what Presence & Power actually looks like.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
I would summarize it to say all the "tiny" moments where I have an opportunity to rewrite my story that shows the grace and beauty of God's handiwork. These stories shows up with my family, in my partnerships, friendships and in my business.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Uninterrupted Deep Sleep. It is something that is easily accessible and I do this but not often enough. I have many ADHD traits which gives me beautiful ideas at a million miles per minute. I am a work in progress as I learn to honor my gifts in a sustainable way. Deep rest is how I celebrate the part of me that’s always creating, always building.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about helping people reclaim their relationship with mastery, money and power. I’m not interested in helping people “do more.” I’m here to help them become more; more aligned, more accurate, more magnetic. Because from that place, anything becomes possible and with mastery you begin to experience the unimaginable.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
Ambition has matured into precision. I no longer feel the need to “do it all”. I simply reorient to doing the right things, in the right timing, with the right people. I’m building infrastructure not just income. I’m anchoring my work in the U.S., expanding into Europe, and preparing my body of work to outlive me.

That motherhood kills your dreams.
That vulnerability makes you weak.

No. motherhood refines your dreams.
And vulnerability? It’s not a liability. It’s what makes your presence unforgettable.
Our best years aren’t behind us. They’re the ones we’re walking into now…we get to decide how it goes.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
You don’t owe the world a performance or "hiding from the spotlight" because you refuse "to perform". You owe yourself the opportunity to express the truth of who you are. You need to give yourself the space to live from that place, fully resourced, deeply anchored, and no longer asking for permission to be who you came here to be.

Allow God to work through you to be a blessing unto others.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
You won’t fade. You’ll sharpen. Life after 40 isn’t the afterthought. It’s an actual rebirthing. Everything before that was just you gathering evidence. Now you get to create your legacy.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My mother - for her ability to choose strength and beauty in life. And for her personal reconnection with God during her battle with cancer.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
Apply discernment in everything. Just because someone sees your brilliance doesn’t mean they value and respect it. Sometimes it triggers envy. Sometimes it exposes their own unhealed chaos. I’ve learned the hard way, that visibility without discernment can be dangerous. Especially when it comes to the loyalty that visibility demands. You know, the kind of loyalty that says, “I’ve got your back.” And that loyalty shouldn't be enmeshed with trauma, convenience, or history. It must be rooted in Truth.
Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
Yes. My first shoot with Penny captured more than a moment. It captured my becoming. I was in transition. And she met me there with grace and reverence. I saw my hidden softness and strength reflected back to me. That image became a marker of what was, and an anchor for what is being "re-birthed". She doesn’t just take photos, she captures your essence.

My challenges were to develop an entrepreneurial, abundance mindset instead of one of scarcity. My success has come from overcomig that challenge and taking some calculated risks in business.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
Completing the capital campaign to purchase and renovate Gilda's Club South Florida was such a challenging endeavor, and I accomplished in a pandemic.

Sharing my achievements with my husband gave me great joy.

I'm passionate about making a difference in the world. I want to leave it better than I found it.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
When I was 40, I wanted to reach my highest potential, learn as much as I could about leading nonprofit organizations and, as the CEO of a nonproit, transform the organization. I've done those things and achieved my goals. Now I aspire to lay the foundation for someone else to be my successor and take Gilda's Club South Florida to new heights.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Help one other women see that she can do something that she wasn't sure she could do. Let her know that "she can." After that, you'll want to do it again.

Maya Angelou once said, "When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes with knowing you are working to make things better.

Aging is freeing. You have nothing to prove anymore - just much to give to others.

A woman I once mentored has grown and blossomed beyond the woman I once knew. Now she teaches me.

I learned that going fast on my own isn't all it seems to be. Slowing down to bring along the consensus of others yields a more fruitful outcome.

What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Since turning 40, I’ve taken some of the hardest—and most rewarding—steps of my life. I moved from administration into management, went back to school to earn my bachelor’s degree, and then returned again for my MBA. The hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve done, however, was leaving the security of a steady job to start my own business. Talk about stepping way outside your comfort zone! It was scary and hard—there were long nights filled with doubts, fears, and insecurities. I questioned my decisions constantly. It felt like I was standing on the edge of a cliff, looking down.
But standing at that edge, I realized I had a choice: turn back to safety and live the life I’d always known, never growing or having those great experiences—or trust that my parachute would open and give me the glorious ride of a lifetime. I chose to jump. That decision has been transformational, giving me not only greater purpose and freedom but also the confidence to embrace change and keep growing. Looking back, I’m grateful for every challenge because it shaped the person I am today.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
One of my proudest moments came recently when I was honored with the Pinnacle Award for Rookie Small Business of the Year by the Miramar/Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce. Receiving this recognition was incredibly validating—it showed me that the hard work, long hours, and risks I took to start my business have truly made a difference for the businesses I’ve helped and the community I’m proud to be part of.
I’m also deeply involved in my Chambers—serving on the Women in Business Committee, acting as the Ethics Director on the Board of the Weston Innovative Leaders (W.I.N.), co-creating the Kind of a Big Deal Podcast with another Chamber member in partnership with the Chamber, speaking at workshops and events, and sharing insights, encouragement, and knowledge with other local business owners.
I’m proud of my entire journey—from going back to school to earn my degrees, to making the leap into entrepreneurship, to overcoming the inevitable challenges along the way. Each milestone has required resilience and determination, and every step forward feels like a meaningful victory.
I’m excited to see what the future holds for me and my business—who knows what’s next. A book, maybe?
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I don’t really do celebrations—not for myself, anyway. Not because I don’t think things are worth celebrating; it’s just not really my style. Don’t get me wrong—the things worth celebrating absolutely make me happy. When something wonderful happens—like winning an award, completing my MBA, or landing a great client—I really feel it. It puts me in a great mood.
For me, it’s less about marking the occasion with an event or a trinket, and more about savoring the moment internally. I’ll take a quiet moment to acknowledge what I’ve accomplished and let myself feel proud. It’s a more personal, reflective kind of celebration that gives me the motivation to keep going. And if it’s something really great, I might grab a celebratory milkshake or treat myself to a pedicure.
What are you passionate about?
I started my business because I wanted to truly help people and make a difference in their lives. That might sound unusual for a Management Consultant, but work is such a big part of our lives—often about a third of our days. When people aren’t happy at work, it affects so much more than just their job. It impacts how they relate to family and friends, how they sleep, and their overall well-being.
If I can help improve people’s workplaces, then I’m making a bigger difference than it might seem on the surface. I believe in kindness and in doing whatever I can to make a positive impact in people’s lives. Just like Penny Fraser does with these 40 Over 40 features—she lifts women up using her natural artistic talents and helps them see their beauty, inside and out. That’s why we all have talents, and we should use them to help others.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
Before I turned 40, I was mostly focused on just getting through life. I didn’t have much of a vision for my future career. In legal administration, the path typically led either to management or becoming an attorney—but I lacked the confidence to pursue either.
After 40, something shifted. Confidence didn’t magically appear overnight, but I became less fearful. I started asking myself, “What’s the worst that could happen?” That question helped me take risks I might have otherwise avoided. It opened the door to new ambitions and gave me the courage to pursue my own business and personal growth.
Now, I’m inspired to keep pushing boundaries, grow my business, and explore new ways to share what I’ve learned with others who might be standing at the edge of their own cliff, wondering if they should jump.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
I never really paid much attention to stereotypical myths in general—they always seemed like such a waste of energy to me. What I can do is share some truths about being a woman over 40.
From my own experience, reinventing yourself after 40 means not giving any energy or attention to others’ opinions that you’re too old for this or that, or that women can’t do certain things. Honestly, that’s just BS. You are fundamentally the same person you’ve always been, except now you’re armed with years of experience, wisdom, and knowledge. That’s an incredible foundation for whatever you want to pursue next.
Take Jane Fraser, for example. At 53, she became the first woman to lead a major U.S. bank when she was named CEO of Citibank—just four years ago! Ladies, let’s normalize this! Don’t shrink to fit into stereotypes you absolutely don’t deserve.
Your age, your gender—they are not limitations. They are your greatest assets.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
My message to other women is simple: don’t let anyone—especially stereotypes or societal expectations—tell you what you can or can’t do because of your age or gender. You are just as capable, valuable, and deserving as ever. Embrace your experience and wisdom as your greatest strengths. Believe in yourself, push past fear, and keep going. The best is yet to come.
Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?
One of my favorite quotes is from Dave Barry:
"There's nothing wrong with enjoying looking at the surface of the ocean itself, except that when you finally see what goes on underwater, you realize that you've been missing the whole point of the ocean. Staying on the surface all the time is like going to the circus and staring at the outside of the tent."
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
What I want younger women to know about aging is that it’s not as bad as you think it might be. The things that seem so important when you’re younger don’t matter nearly as much anymore. The pressure drops away. You get to do what you want and care a lot less about what anyone else thinks. In many ways, it’s freeing. You gain confidence, perspective, and a much clearer sense of what really matters.
You keep growing. You keep dreaming. You get better at choosing the dreams that actually fit you—and you get braver about going after them. You come to understand the peace that comes from prioritizing your own joy, goals, and well-being.
Don’t let anyone tell you it’s the end of anything—it’s just the beginning of a new, wiser, more unapologetic chapter.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My mom is the woman who inspires me most. At 81 years old, she still works—not because she has to, but because she wants to. She thrives on being needed and belonging to something bigger than herself, and the truth is, she is still needed. She’s an expert in her field and continues to make a real impact.
She keeps herself busy not just for the sake of it, but because she knows that staying engaged keeps you young. And she balances that drive with the kindest, most generous heart. She has always poured love and support into the people around her.
She’s always been fiercely independent. Being raised by her meant I never saw being dependent on anyone as a requirement for a full life. She and my dad were married, and she had his help—but she didn’t need anything from anyone. She taught me that you can be strong and soft at the same time, that independence and compassion don’t cancel each other out. I carry that with me every day, and I’m endlessly grateful for her example.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
One lesson I learned the hard way was just how unprepared I was when I first stepped into management. I was promoted by the owners of the law firm where I worked because they saw potential in me—I had leadership qualities, strong people skills, and the respect of my co-workers. Although I was lucky enough to have a mentor to help me through some challenges, I really needed more formal training.
I made embarrassing mistakes that impacted not only me but also the people I was leading. Those experiences were tough, but they sparked something important in me—a desire to help others avoid the same pitfalls.
Unfortunately, management training is often looked down upon, as if needing it means you weren’t qualified in the first place. The reality is that this unfair expectation sets many new managers up for failure. No one is born knowing how to lead.
My own mistakes inspired me to start my business to support leaders in gaining the skills and confidence they need to succeed. I want to help others become the kind of managers I wished I had—equipped, empathetic, and effective.
Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
The time flew by during the photoshoot, and Penny made me feel super comfortable—which is saying a lot because I’m usually pretty awkward in front of the camera. It wasn’t just about taking pictures; it helped me feel more confident and empowered in how I see myself and my work.
Sometimes we hide behind what we do instead of letting people see who we are. This experience reminded me that I deserve to be seen and celebrated. Having photos that truly capture me helps me share my story with pride.
If someone is on the fence about doing a photoshoot, I’d say: go for it. It’s normal to feel nervous, but Penny’s warmth and professionalism make all the difference. You’ll be surprised how much fun it can be, and the confidence boost is worth it.

I am a 74 year old, retired speech language pathologist. I am a breast cancer survivor and am thankful for my struggle because without it I wouldn’t have stumbled across my strength. I have a spiritual garden and recently had my Bat Mitzvah.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
At 40 I gave birth to my daughter, Melissa, even though my husband was suffering from brain cancer. He passed when she was 3. Raised my two children myself when he passed in 1994. I had my own health challenges as stated above.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My Bat Mitzvah at age 74. Reading from the Torah without vowels was a challenge. Raising my children alone was a milestone. Developing my spiritual garden was amazing.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Massages and doing Zumba at Retro Fitness
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about life. I engage with numerous activities and am up for new challenges. I am creative. I recently scrapbooked my bat mitzvah and journaled my journey.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I am aspiring to learn more about Judaism and run services for those in assisted living. I also want to get more involved in helping the Temple librarian organize and sell books.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Do not count us out! We are still sexy and intelligent and can do new projects.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Communes of the with nature, get involved with your faith and believe in yourself.

I love Mark Nepo’s book, the book of awakening. He is a philosopher, poet and cancer survivor. He starts each day with a quote that makes you think.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
Age gracefully. Don’t get obsess with wrinkles and appearance. Focus on your soul and spirit.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
Alicia Keyes. Her music always has a deep message.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
My health and happiness. Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s all small stuff.

Yes! I love my photos and they get a lot of attention. My breast cancer photo inspired the breast cancer community. Penny is an amazing photographer.

I’m 62 years old and I recently retired from my photography career. Perhaps it’s just a hiatus for now because I’m just taking time to focus on my new home, adopted pup and recent marriage. I’m a mother of three adult children who all have wonderful careers.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
My biggest success is knowing how to manage my emotions and realizing that I am not alone. It’s a big stigma and overcoming the fear of being different has made me stronger.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
The proudest moment in my life is when I was able to accept who I am and learn to love myself even though I’m different.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
My favorite way to celebrate myself is through the milestones that I achieve. Taking time out from my day to enjoy long walks on the beach and decompressing from the everyday routine.
What are you passionate about?
I’m passionate about my past experiences with my photography career. I exhibited my nature and wildlife photography in the Fort Lauderdale airport, Broward Art Guild, Broward Annex Federal Building, and was published in domestic and international publications.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I feel like I have had a great run with my photography career as I was able to travel around the world to remote locations and shoot some amazing nature and wildlife photos.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Women over 40 are resilient, strong and capable of doing things unimaginable. Menopause is a bitch but keep your head high and know that you’re going to get through it.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Follow your dreams Don’t be afraid to be unique and different Love yourself for it is critical for your self awareness Don’t take no for an answer and opinion's from others don’t matter because they are just words that sometimes are better left unsaid. Trust your instincts and trust your gut. If it seems too good to be true then it is probably not worth the risk. Nothing comes easy because if it did everyone would do it.

What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Spa day all day, of course. I also love creating new recipe’s and experiencing new foods. This is my creative outlet and allows me to step away from the world and celebrate the small things I have to offer.
What are you passionate about?
God, family, friends, and life. Mentoring is also a big part of who I am. I can’t think of anything more important than helping our future generations in navigating through this world.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
It’s funny because in the first series, I’m sure my answer was completely different. Now that I’m actually in my 50’s (shhh, don’t tell anyone), my ambitions are easy: live a healthy and happy life my goals are to spend as much time with my family as I can blessed and not stressed.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
We are in our power years, ladies. We are wiser, bolder, and more grounded. This is not the time to extinguish the torch, this is the time to set the fire ablaze with embracing change, exciting self-discovery, and personal fulfillment. We unapologetically know who we are at this age….we are queens.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
You are right on time for your own journey. Every lesson, every pivot, every quiet win is building something strong in you. Keep showing up, keep believing, and never shrink to fit into spaces you’ve outgrown.

Don’t fear aging-OWN IT! You’ll continue to grow into your voice, your body, and your power. There’s no use in trying to stay the same so keep evolving. Being a woman is your superpower.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My mom. She came to this country not knowing the language, not having resources, and not having any experience. She built a family, she built a business, and she built a home. She experienced the loss of a husband at an early age and found every strength to keep going for her family. She taught me that strength and determination come from within and that it all comes as a blessing from God. She’s my rock, my example, my best friend, and most importantly, she’s my mom.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
One lesson I had to learn the hard way-and am deeply grateful for now-is the importance of supporting other women. For too long, I saw other women as competition instead of community. But life has taught me that when we lift each other up, we all rise. There’s real power in cheering each other on, sharing our stories, and holding space for one another. Sisterhood isn’t just a nice idea-it’s a lifeline.

This experience has helped create bonds and relationships with other Bombshells. It’s a wonderful community of women empowering women. During my first photo shoot, I was nervous and scared and not very confident. I didn’t think I would show anyone my pictures and was scared of the reveal. Once Penny showed me her beautiful art, all of that changed. The next shoots were more comfortable and more confident and I even started posting some of the pics. At age 50, I celebrated with a shoot from Penny. New era and new me and Penny captured it perfectly. I’ve been to the series showcases and see the newly empowered women in the room. The women who have found their beauty, their confidence, and who aren’t afraid to celebrate themselves. Hoping thane courage’s others to leap at the opportunity to do the same.
What would you tell someone who's considering doing this but feels unsure?
I can relate. I was 80 pounds heavier in my first shoot and not very comfortable in my own skin. Penny truly celebrates all women and cremates a safe space for you to be authentically you. You don’t ever have to do anything you’re not comfortable with and Penny will guide you to ensure your issues beauty is reflected on your outside image. What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Since turning 40, I’ve faced heartbreak and loss that could have broken me—a divorce, and the passing of my mother and brother, leaving me as the sole survivor of my immediate family. But instead of letting these moments define me, I rose. I’ve learned to treasure time, to extend compassion to myself, and to own my journey with pride. For the first time in my life, I come first—my peace, my voice, my needs. I’ve mastered the power of saying “NO” and standing tall in my truth. I’ve walked away from anything and anyone that brings drama, negativity, distraction or doesn't value my worth. I was raised to care for everyone else—but now, at 60, I fiercely and unapologetically choose me. This chapter is mine, and I’m living it boldly, fearlessly, and without compromise.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My proudest moments came in the wake of a challenging divorce in 2022, when I pulled myself up by the bootstraps and decided to go back to school. I earned my massage therapist certification and passed the Florida State Exam in 2023. Since then, I’ve launched a successful massage and bodywork business in Florida, which has granted me the freedom to take control of my schedule and spend more time doing the things I truly enjoy.

My favorite way to celebrate the woman I’ve become is by embarking on soulful adventures—journeys that not only take me across the world, but also deeper into myself. Traveling to sacred and awe-inspiring destinations like the Greek Islands, Spain, Turkey, Morocco, and Egypt over the past two years has been nothing short of divine alignment. These experiences are more than vacations—they are spiritual awakenings, moments where I reconnect with my essence and the beauty of creation. I honor these journeys by planning intentional photo shoots that capture the spirit of each adventure. Turning them into coffee table books is my way of preserving the sacred memories—reminders of how far I’ve come, how much I’ve grown, and how deeply I’ve learned to love and celebrate myself.
What are you passionate about?
I am deeply passionate about expressing my God-given creativity through the sacred work of my hands—whether it's sewing, designing jewelry, or breathing new life into forgotten treasures through upcycling. There is something profoundly spiritual about transforming discarded items into something beautiful and meaningful; it feels like an act of redemption, a quiet offering to the Earth and a gesture of gratitude for all we’re given. My heart also beats for our youth. I was raised by a powerful tribe of wise and nurturing women, each one pouring their love, strength, and wisdom into me. Now, at 60, I’ve stepped into a chapter more beautiful than I ever imagined—a season of grace, freedom, and divine alignment. I no longer see limits—only possibilities. There is absolutely nothing I cannot do. In this sacred season, I aspire to explore the world with wonder—diving deep into the ocean’s mysteries through scuba diving and collecting radiant beads and treasures to craft unique jewelry and garments. Not because I have to, but simply because I can. This is my time to live boldly, joyfully, and unapologetically—guided by spirit, fueled by passion, and rooted in purpose.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Oh, most definitely! People love to say that life starts slowing down in your 40s, 50s, or 60s—but let me be the one to tell you: Honey, it’s just getting started. This is the season to live fully, freely, and without apology. Stop saving the good China and linen for “someday”—today is the occasion. Wear what makes your soul feel alive. Eat the food that brings you joy. Speak your truth boldly—you’ve earned every right to stand in your power and say what needs to be said. Live your life out loud, without shrinking, without explaining, and without seeking permission. If someone doesn’t like it? Bless them and keep it moving. You’ve got one life—so live it with intention, with joy, and with fire. Unapologetically, authentically, and on your terms.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
HONEY, LET THEM! Don’t waste another ounce of your precious energy trying to convince anyone of your worth. You don’t need to explain yourself, shrink yourself, or seek approval. Let people believe what they want, do what they will—as long as it doesn't disturb your peace, it’s none of your business. Protect your energy and stay rooted in what brings you joy. Focus on your happiness, your growth, and your purpose. Stop waiting—tomorrow isn’t promised, and the time to start living is now. You have the power to become anything you desire, to do anything your spirit calls you to do. It’s never too late to begin again, to dream a new dream, or to surprise even yourself with what you’re capable of. You’re not too old. You’re right on time.

What do you want younger women to know about aging?

Invest in your growth, your healing, and your dreams. Don’t rush into relationships or marriage—there’s no timeline on love. Take the time to travel, to explore the world, and most importantly, to discover yourself. Learn who you are when no one else is defining you. There will always be time for commitment and family, but once you choose that path, your dreams may need to wait. So for now—do you. Fully, fearlessly, and without apology. You are the author of your own life—write a story worth reading.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
Growing up, I was deeply inspired by my mother’s best friend, Ms. Vera Johnson. A former military officer and schoolteacher, Ms. Vera was a God-fearing woman who led with strength, grace, and unwavering love. She didn’t just care for me—she saw me. She recognized something in me that others often overlooked. With affection and intention, she gave me the nickname “Ms. Lon.” I never asked why, but somehow, she knew I carried a wisdom beyond my years. In a world that often felt uncertain, Ms. Vera brought a sense of normalcy and peace. Her presence was grounding, and her words—always laced with Scripture and encouragement—became a spiritual anchor in my life. She was a blessing, a guide, and a reflection of God’s love during my formative years.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned—though the hard way—is to manage my expectations of others. People may expect you to go above and beyond for them, yet often won’t extend the same courtesy in return. If you allow it, they will take advantage of your generosity. Learning to say “no” without guilt or explanation has been incredibly empowering.
Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
My photo shoot turned out to be more meaningful than I ever anticipated. It took place just a month before two major life changes—my marriage ended, and I underwent double knee replacement surgery. At the time, I felt uncertain and broken. But when I put on my white gloves and opened my photo album, I was overwhelmed with pride. There I was—confident, radiant, and empowered—posing on the beach in a mermaid tail, waving like a queen. The joy on the faces of the little girls who truly believed they were seeing a real-life mermaid filled my heart in a way I’ll never forget. That moment reminded me of my strength, even in the midst of personal upheaval.

What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?Separation was my biggest challenge. My success is establishing my independence and finding myself again and realizing my worth and knowing that I deserve better!
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My proudest moments were when my two children were born and when I just recently became a grandmother.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
My favorite way to celebrate myself is to spend time with friends, family members, and my boyfriend who uplift me and bring forth positivity as I feel that I always do!

I’m passionate about my job and the people I love and staying true to myself and who I am!
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
My ambitions were originally to continue a happy marriage and to be a devoted wife to my husband. Since I realized that we were not on the same page, since we have such a short time on this earth, I just want to enjoy life with someone who wants to enjoy it as much as I do and to actually donate some time to a nonprofit organization, such as make a wish or to help animals.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Some myths that I believe can be busted for women over 40 is that you fall apart and start looking old. Although sometimes I physically don’t feel well because of my fibromyalgia,, staying as fit as possible physically and trying to stay emotionally positive I feel helps to keep me young.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Don’t ever lose or second-guess yourself! Go with your gut!

just my own words that I tell myself and my friends… Stay positive, surround yourself with positive people who look out for you and your best interest, and put into the universe what you want to come back to you!

Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
One woman who inspires me off the top of my head is one of my best friends, Kara Boehly! She has four children and recently got a third dog. She is as good as a mother to her animals as she is her children. She not only is an amazing mom and goes to all of her children’s sports events, which is not easy, but she also has volunteered with make a wish for over 20 years! She is a beautiful person inside and out! She inspires me to be the best that I can be, and makes me realize that I could never say that I don’t have time to volunteer, because she always seems to make the time to do what she needs to do!
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
One lesson that I’ve learned is that when you think things have gotten bad and can’t get much worse, realize that there may be a reason behind it all. I was devastated in my initial separation with my husband, but the lesson I’ve learned is that I was overlooking what was in front of me the whole time.. I thought that I was in something really good, but it may have just been all a delusion in seeing what I just wanted to say. And looking back, I see a clearer picture, and now realize that the separation happened for a reason.

I am an ambitious, driven, determined, and accomplished, individual. Some would describe me as an over-achiever. As a life-long learner and the majority of my adult life had been focused on career and educational goals. In total I have earned 7 degrees; 4 within the field of education, paralegal studies, Library degree, and another in Strategic Intelligence. ( 1 Bachelors, 1 post-baccalaureate, 3 Masters, and 2 Educational Specialists degrees).
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?Challenges: Widowed, Re-marriage, Debt & Divorce Success:. The decade of my 50’s was primarily spent completing two additional master’s degrees and 9 summer internships. The time invested laid the foundation for me being able to make a career change.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
I would have to say my proudest moment was when my hard work and years of sacrifice finally paid off. I was able to close the chapter on my teaching career and make a career pivot in my late 50’s.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
This is an area I need to work on.

Learning. I am curious and I like to learn about different things.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I would have to say that my ambitions have changed more toward living in the present. I’m not as future oriented as I was when I was younger. I no longer feel the need to strive and achieve. I value peace, and contentment and am not willing to allow someone else to rob me of my happiness. I have been able to navigate life’s uncertainties with more confidence, trusting that things have a way of working out. For now I simply aspire to be successful in my new career.

Do not let anyone or anything else define who you are, or determine your worth.; not the mirror, your weight, physique, clothes, position, or career, and certainly not a man. Your value and worth is inherent and determined by God.

Talk to God. Find your true passion and purpose and chase it without letting anyone getting your way and keep going don’t ever stop.

What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
At 40, I was able to further establish myself as a trailblazer in the field of aquatic performance. By the time I turned 50, my swim style has become refined and uniquely recognizable. 20 years I created and ran an underwater iconic shows which helped to preserve one of the very last porthole pool establishments and the art of underwater dance. Challenges? There are plenty in my field. I’ve found the key is to keep moving forward, even if it’s in a different direction. That way you always stay a few steps ahead.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
When someone tells me that my work has impacted them positively. Watching a student improve as an underwater performer, or a person bowled over by an image of themselves they never thought they would see through my work.

That we don’t have to look younger. That is the expectation of those who wish to make a profit from our insecurity. It is a truly cultural pressure- and not necessary. In that sacred space, surrounded by guidance and silence, I find clarity, renewal, and a sense of wholeness that no material success can offer. It’s the most powerful gift I can give myself - realignment with my soul.

I’m passionate about creativity and the beauty of life itself. For me, creativity isn’t just about making art - it’s a way of thinking, living, and connecting.I believe life is much simpler than we make it. Since turning 40, my ambitions have shifted from proving myself to truly honoring myself. I no longer feel the need to say yes to everything or push just for the sake of achievement. One major myth is that women over 40 are past their peak or should start “slowing down.” That couldn’t be further from the truth. In my 40s, I’ve felt more creative, powerful, and clear than ever before. This is the age where we know who we are, what we want, and what we’re no longer willing to tolerate. It’s not the end of anything - it’s the beginning of living fully, with confidence, wisdom, and unapologetic energy.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
My message to women is this: Own your power and your story. Don’t wait for permission or the “perfect” moment to shine. Your value isn’t defined by age, circumstance, or anyone else’s expectations. Trust yourself, follow your intuition, and create a life that feels true to you. When you lead with authenticity and courage, you inspire others to do the same - and together, we rise stronger.

One of my favorite mantras is from my spiritual teacher: “Live with Integrity, Authenticity, Responsibility and Enriching ”. When we bring mindfulness and heart to everything we do, we transform not only our own lives but also the world around us.

As I share with my daughter: Don’t fear aging. It’s not about losing youth - it’s about gaining freedom and clarity. With every year, you’ll learn more about who you truly are and what brings you joy. Aging is a gift that allows you to let go of what doesn’t serve you and to embrace your authentic self with love and confidence. It’s a beautiful journey, and your best years are still ahead.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
There are so many women who inspire me, each for different reasons, and together they remind me of the power of authenticity, creativity, and resilience. Frida Kahlo inspires me with her fearless self-expression and ability to transform pain into breathtaking art. Marilyn Monroe, beyond her fame, showed vulnerability and complexity that many never saw - a reminder that strength often lives in our openness. Ilona Smithkin, my dear artist friend and a Broadway performer, who I met at her age of at 92, and she lived 104 years, inspired by proving that passion and creativity have no age limits. Her energy and dedication remind me that life’s possibilities only expand when we keep showing up. And many more! These women, in their unique ways, teach me to embrace every facet of myself: my creativity, my vulnerability, my drive, and my age. They inspire me to live boldly, with integrity and heart.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
One lesson I learned the hard way is the importance of saying no - and protecting my time and energy. Early on, I tried to do everything and please everyone, which left me drained and unfocused. It was a tough realization, but now I’m grateful for it because saying no has allowed me to say yes to what truly matters. It’s helped me create with more intention, live with more balance, and show up as my best self both personally and professionally.

This photoshoot reminded me that I am beautiful in all my roles - whether as an artist, a mother, or simply myself. Life really is like a theater, and I get to play many parts with passion and grace. What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Turning 40 has been both a challenge and a triumph. On one hand, I’ve felt the weight of balancing career, community leadership, and family life. As an attorney and former president of the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association, the responsibilities can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially while raising two young children. Time management and learning to give myself grace have been real challenges. At the same time, turning 40 has been incredibly empowering. I feel more confident in my voice, clearer about my purpose, and unapologetic about setting boundaries. I’ve been able to lean into leadership roles, mentor younger attorneys, and create meaningful change for survivors of violence in my community. What’s different now is that I no longer question whether I belong in certain rooms — I know that my experiences, my heritage, and my work all have value. I’ve learned to see the power in being a first-generation Cuban-American woman in the legal profession, and I take pride in paving the way for others who might not have had a traditional path into law. On a personal level, my greatest success has been embracing the joy in everyday moments with my family. Watching my daughter begin to discover her own dreams and my son reach his milestones keeps me grounded and reminds me of the importance of creating a legacy not just in my profession, but at home. Turning 40 has been about learning that success isn’t measured only by accolades, but by the impact I leave behind — both in my community and with the little ones who call me Mom.

Professionally, I am most proud of the moments when I’ve been able to help change the trajectory of someone’s life. Helping survivors of domestic violence secure protection, safety, and stability for themselves and their children has been the heart of my work. Each injunction granted, each family protected, represents a victory that goes far beyond the legal system, it’s about restoring dignity and hope. On a personal level, my proudest accomplishment has been becoming a mother. Having two children has been the most beautiful gift of my life, and raising them to be kind, compassionate, and loving is a role I cherish above all others. Watching them grow into little people with empathy and joy reminds me daily of what truly matters and grounds me in the values I hope to pass on.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
My favorite way to celebrate myself is with a glass of bubbly and a pool day surrounded by family. There’s something about being outside in the sunshine, relaxing by the water, and enjoying the laughter that instantly feels like a celebration. What makes it even more special is having my nephews, Santiago and Sebas, join in. They bring so much joy to my life, and I love watching them play and interact with my kids. Those moments splashing in the pool, sharing food, and just being together are my happiest celebrations.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about school safety and making sure the necessary advocacy happens to keep our children safe. For me, it’s about raising awareness, pushing for stronger protections, and ensuring that parents’ voices are heard in the conversation about safety in our schools. Every child deserves the chance to learn in an environment where they feel secure, supported, and free to focus on their growth.How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I just turned forty, and I’ve noticed a shift in my ambitions. In my twenties, I was focused on building a career; in my thirties, I was focused on growing my family; and now, in my forties, I find myself wanting to slow down and truly enjoy life. I want to take nice vacations and see the world — Napa Valley has always been a dream of mine, and I’d love to travel to Norway to take my mother to see the northern lights. More than anything, I want to be intentional about creating experiences and memories with the people I love. At the same time, I know slowing down isn’t always easy with two young children and a busy career. But that’s part of this new chapter learning to carve out joy, embrace balance, and celebrate life in meaningful ways, even in the middle of the chaos.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
The myth I’d like to bust is that women over 40 are losing their beauty or are somehow past their prime. I have never felt more confident or beautiful than I do now even with the stretch marks from two pregnancies. They tell the story of motherhood, and I wear them with pride. I even stopped getting Botox because I’ve come to appreciate the way my face is aging. There’s something really powerful about seeing yourself change and embracing it rather than trying to erase it.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
The message I would give other women is this: you are your own best friend, and you are your own savior. You don’t need anyone to rescue you, you already have the strength and ability to create the life you want. Depend on yourself, trust yourself, and never forget that you are capable of anything.

What do you want younger women to know about aging?
I want younger women to know that aging is not something to fear — it’s actually one of the most empowering parts of life. With age comes wisdom, confidence, and a deeper sense of control over your own path. You start to care less about outside opinions and more about living authentically, on your own terms. Aging is natural. Our bodies are meant to change; it’s part of the life cycle. Instead of fighting it, embrace it. Don’t give in to traditional beauty standards that suggest youth is the only form of beauty. Every woman is beautiful, regardless of age, because true beauty comes from within from the way you carry yourself, the kindness you show, and the wisdom you share.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
A woman who inspires me is my dear friend Mercedes. She is truly an incredible woman and has been such a blessing in my life. She helps me tremendously with my children, and I honestly could not be a working mom without her support. Mercedes is a devout Catholic, and her faith is something I deeply admire. She is the kind of influence every family would be lucky to have — grounded, prayerful, and full of grace. She loves to read and pray her rosary, and her quiet strength is a constant source of inspiration. What inspires me most is how she has faced heartache and challenges, especially with sick family members, yet has remained steadfast in her faith.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
One lesson I’ve learned the hard way, but am now grateful for, is to always say what you want to say. Be bold in your opinions and unafraid to shake things up. Not everyone will like it and that’s okay. The people who can’t handle your authenticity aren’t meant to be in your circle anyway.

Even though we do help with incapacity planning, and probate avoidance for older adults, we focus on helping families with special needs planning involving a much wider variety of age groups. It’s a passion, not just a profession. I’m fortunate to be able to give back by serving as a Board Member for Equine Assisted Therapies of South Florida, and just being around the horses is something magical. Most importantly, I am a grandma to an almost 1 year old. This is the best time of my life.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?Hitting 55, I’m starting to have more health challenges but overall, my quality of life is still the best it’s ever been.

One of my challenges has been navigating menopause . I was not ready for the range of physical, emotional, and mental challenges due to the significant hormonal changes happening in my body.

after 40, ambition becomes less about striving and more about aligning—with who you truly are and what actually matters. You become more intentional. Instead of chasing every opportunity, you pursue what aligns with your values, passions, or peace of mind.

The notion that women over 40 are less desirable to men is misguided—older women often bring the maturity, intelligence, and confidence essential for a healthy, lasting relationship.

Never doubt your worth or power. You are not defined by age, titles, or expectations—your strength, wisdom, and resilience are your superpowers. Own your voice, trust your journey, and know that it’s never too late to rise, lead, or begin again

My mom is my inspiration—she accomplished so much with so little while raising me and my brother. I still don’t know how she managed it all, but I’m deeply grateful for the private education she made possible and the unwavering love and support she gave us.

I am a mother and I have two wonderful adult boys and a daughter who is in heaven. I am also a wife, a sister, a stepmother, an aunt and motivator to all who comes across me. I love walks in nature and I also love riding bicycle and spending time with those that I care for the most. As I age in years, I have realized that what matters the most is enjoying every little thing you like the most and savoring those happy moments.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
The challenges that I have faced is divorce and being on my own with my three wonderful children. It was tough losing everything that I had worked for after my divorce and starting from scratch. The other most devastating circumstance in my life was losing my 27 year old daughter to a car accident. I am not the same version of myself as I was before the accident.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
The proudest moments in my life have been seeing my children grow up and be happy and meeting my current husband.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
My favorite ways to celebrate myself is taking nature walks and spending quality time with my loves.
What are you passionate about?
I am most passionate about helping those that are less fortunate. I really ache in my heart when I see starvation around the world.

I aspire to achieve having a healing center or helping organize healing retreats.

Yes, and it would be not to be afraid of growing old. You are only as old as you feel. I feel great and I will continue my walks and bicycle rides until my last breath.

I grew up in Connecticut, one of 4 girls. I am the third child, was always a bit of a “renegade”, had my own ways if doing things, a little hard-headed my mom always said. I loved to be outside, I played with matchbox cars in the dirt and built little houses and villages from tree bark and twigs. I rode my bike exploring nature, read lots of books and daydreamed about what the rest of the world was like. I sketched and doodled all of the time. When I was in high school I started working with clay and throwing pots and vases on the potter’s wheel. As a junior, I was old enough to take a jewelry making class, I learned about metals and hammers, bending wire with pliers. We learned about gemstones and then, we learned soldering, that’s when I was hooked! Eighteen and hyper-focused on my new love, I declared that someday I was going to own my own jewelry store. Lots of school and apprenticeships around the country, I realized my dream at 26 years old. Newly married and a baby on my hip, P.J. Rossi Jewelers was born in the summer of 1994. Fast forward to today, the summer of 2025. I’ve had 31 years of a very rewarding career that has never felt like a job. My talents and creativity has allowed me to fulfill the desires of my clients with custom-made, one-of-a-kind miniature works-of-art.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
At 36 years of age, I lost my husband to suicide. Struggling with questions and overwhelming grief while raising my son, now as a single mom was very hard. Knowing I had to work even harder to be the only provider while taking on the role of dad too-was rough. It was catastrophic and I sincerely hope you never experience it firsthand.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
The birth of my son, Trevor, (whom I birthed at home with a midwife) Earning my Graduate Gemologists degree, My son’s graduation from Calvary Christian Academy, Earning my first-degree Black Belt and later earning my second-degree black-belt. When I realized I made it through 30 years in business!
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Now, I really enjoy treating myself to a spa-day! Therapeutic massage and facials, infrared sauna and cryotherapy. Yoga! These are what I enjoy most these days. Also, an occasional splurge on a new outfit!
What are you passionate about?
I still enjoy the creating process very much. In my store we do a lot of jewelry design on the computer now, using state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology. It’s really neat and I love how precise we can be now. I used to carve all the designs from wax by hand and then cast and finish. Now we create in the high tech jewelry software program and “print” the waxes and cast right here in the store. But-it all starts with an imagination and a sketch!
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I am really inspired by science and nutrition (which is another passion of mine since college) also I am fascinated by longevity and what the future holds for us with Ai, as it applies to our bodies and how it will help us to keep wellness in the forefront.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Oh my gosh, life is just starting in your 40’s! Just wait until you are 50! That’s where the living is, you know who you are and are not afraid to be you!

Figure out what you love to do and go for it, if that passion shines through you will ignite others!

Melania Trump. She is an accomplished business owner, well-educated, multi-lingual, calm, cool & collected at all times. She’s always looks elegant, stylish and confident! She’s a great mom, raising her son and not allowing a nanny!
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
I am grateful for all of my life experiences. Certainly going through the loss of my husband at such a young age, it made me realize never take anyone you love for granted! Now I know what I am made of: strong shoulders, a lot of love and never-ending perseverance. I am grateful to have great love in my life and a loving family!

The successes came in building cultures where physicians and staff felt engaged, patients were cared for at the highest standard, and organizations became stronger financially and operationally. Personally, I've learned to celebrate those wins without losing sight of balance and meaning.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
The proudest moments of my life were also the most difficult. I was a CEO of a hospital during COVID, leading through he most uncertain and most scary time of my career. However, it was also the most rewarding. Solving completely new problems you had never encountered before, working with a team that was so coalesced around the current circumstances that we felt like one cohesive entity, while at the same time leading without showing fear was the most gratifying and humbling time of my life.What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?

• I am an immigration attorney at Robert M. Bell PA in Hollywood, Florida. I handle waivers, asylum, removal defense, naturalization, and immigrant and non-immigrant visas. I specialize in complex family-based immigration matters that often involve prior denials, fraud, removal orders, and criminal backgrounds.
• I grew up in Northern Virginia and moved to Florida in 2010 after law school. I initially came down for a clerkship at the Miami Immigration Court but chose to remain in Florida afterward. I currently live in Deerfield Beach, where I love to be outside on the water. I am a certified scuba diver and enjoy diving on the reefs in Dania and Pompano. I am also a competitive swimmer and am currently a member of a master’s swim team.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
I ended an engagement, which was a difficult decision but a personal victory. I was engaged to someone whose values didn’t align with mine. I came to realize that moving forward with marriage would hold me back from living a life true to myself, and I wanted more for my future. While I may not know exactly what lies ahead, I’m grateful for the clarity and excited to have the freedom to plan, grow, and build.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
• I am proud of being a living organ donor. My father became sick with liver disease in 2017, and I insisted on being evaluated as a donor despite his objections. We went through transplant surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center, and our surgery was successful. My Dad has now had eight more years and counting.• I am proud of being a “double-Hoo,” meaning that I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Virginia. The unofficial mascot of UVA is the wahoo, and students who have earned two degrees are nicknamed double-Hoos.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Taking time off from work to take adventurous trips abroad. I love both solo travel and traveling with family or friends. I recently came back from Spain, where I walked 71 miles in six days along the Camino de Santiago. I have also been to Italy, Portugal, Norway, Germany, and the UAE in the past few years.What are you passionate about?
I have become a leader and mentor to a large team of attorneys and paralegals who are fully committed to serving immigrants in our community. We are working under difficult circumstances. We must stay up to date on frequent policy changes and court decisions that impact our cases. We have to think creatively and strategically and guide our clients with compassion and understanding. My grandmothers were amazing women and inspired me to serve my community, to be disciplined, and to be compassionate. I was lucky enough to live near my grandmother, Natalie Weiss, until she passed last summer at the age of 102. She was so kind, patient, and disciplined with her diet and exercise. My grandmother, Janice Cooper, was widowed at a young age and went on to become an adored leader in her community. She was the first female councilwoman of Cliffside Park, New Jersey.What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?

I'm unconventional, down to earth, somewhat introverted but I love my friends, they are my lifeline. I used to do a lot of promoting in my art community but since 2020 I have gone in another direction, so you might say I'm a bit retired now.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
40 was when everything started for me. Up until then I worked in corporate America (Advertising) and after 40 I became much more entrepreneurial. It's like the educational part came to an end and it was time to do things my way.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
When I got my first advertising job; when I finally became an art director; when i traveled from Florida to California alone in my VW bug at 24; when I graduated from art school with a BFA; when I sold my first painting; when I started my first advertising agency with my former colleague at 43.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I celebrate my freedom every morning by journaling and having my coffee. It's the best part of my day.
What are you passionate about?
I'm pretty passionate about everything I do, from doing a painting, discussing politics, or helping a friend. I like to put my heart into everything.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
I'm not nearly as ambitious about material things or titles or status as I once was. When you realize there's less road ahead of you than there is behind you, I think you start to view life a little differently. Now for me, it's about achieving peace and tranquility.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
I'm not aware of any myths. I think they've all been mostly disintegrated. Women over 40 are incredible works of art because they've learned so much by that age and have so much to offer the world now!
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Spend more time alone. It's the only way to learn to love yourself. Make it a priority. Learn to self validate. Laugh at yourself, don't be hard on yourself. Never let another person define you.

You are not your past. You are who you choose to be.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
Aging is a gift, not a curse. Do not cling to the past. Your life is now. Live in the present.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
Louise Hay. She did quite a lot of wonderful things for the wellness community. And Georgia O'Keefe, an American artist who embraced aging so gracefully.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
Trust your own instincts, because that's your soul whispering to you. Don't put other people's opinions ahead of your own.

Yes, I always feel so great seeing the photos. I think they capture my happiness, gratefulness and love for life.

I decided to follow my parents down to South Florida in 1991 and made the choice to enroll in Nursing School. I met my soulmate, Jerry and got married in 1995. We had our son, Jordan in 1998 who is now 27 and 2 years later, we had our daughter, Emily who is now 24.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
I can't recall too many challenges since I turned 40 but I feel so fortunate to be successful in being a mother, a wife and a nurse.

Myth : "Youth is synonymous with beauty" - Many believe that age defines beauty. This is not true but thinking this way can be harmful to our mental health. Aging is a fact of life. As Michelle Obama reminds us...."There is no limit to what women can accomplish".

In my early 20's, I misused my credit cards. I was $5,000 in debt when I got married. I was extremely fortunate and forever grateful to have my husband pay off my debt. From that point forward, I learned an important lesson....You can't spend $1.05 if you only make $1.00.Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?

I am a visual artist based in Miami with a PhD in Molecular Biology and Microbiology. For over 20 years, I worked as a scientist at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine before transitioning fully into the arts in 2022. My artistic practice focuses on uncovering the beauty and complexity of the microbial world and translating scientific concepts into immersive visual experiences.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Since turning 40, one of my biggest challenges was stepping away from a long and stable scientific career to pursue my passion for art full time. It was scary to leave behind something I knew so well, but it has been one of my greatest successes too. I’ve had the privilege of exhibiting my work internationally and receiving grants to bring my ideas to life. It’s shown me that reinvention is possible at any stage of life.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My proudest moment in life was seeing my daughter graduate from USF. She has blossomed into a bright, independent, and strong woman. Nothing seems to hold her back, and her confidence and determination are truly inspiring to me.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I’m proud of earning my PhD and contributing to scientific research for over two decades. But equally, I’m proud of finding the courage to follow my artistic calling and sharing my love of science in creative ways. My first solo art exhibit, where I blended microbiology and art, was an incredibly proud moment—it felt like the culmination of both my worlds.
What are you passionate about?
I’m deeply passionate about art, science, and the invisible worlds that sustain life. I want to inspire curiosity about microbes, nature, and how connected we all are. I’m also passionate about empowering women to embrace their creativity and step into new chapters with confidence.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
My ambitions have become more aligned with purpose than with external achievements. I aspire to create art installations that inspire wonder and educate people about the natural world. I also want to mentor others who are seeking to combine seemingly opposite paths, like science and art.

Yes! That life slows down or becomes predictable after 40. For me, life became more exciting and fulfilling because I learned to trust myself and take bigger risks. Reinventing yourself is not only possible, it can be exhilarating.

It’s never too late to become the most authentic version of yourself. Trust your instincts, embrace your journey, and don’t be afraid to take bold steps—you are more capable and powerful than you know.

I am entering the next phase of life. 60, the era of life as I've known it... is supposed to end (retirement). I was born in Philadelphia, PA and at 10 my father started a manufacturing company and moved us to Northern Indiana to a small Amish town. A change of life not one of us could have imagined. I am the baby of 4 children, born to parents later in life. By the time I was 11 I was the only one left at home which left me as "the spoiled child" since I grew up so many years apart from my older siblings. I graduated high school at 17, went to college, got through a 2 year college in 15 months and then found myself pregnant at 18. Married my boyfriend a year later and boom... 19 year old mom, abused wife, back to college, full-time office manager and a daughter taking care of aging parents. In my career... my first job in public accounting lasted 10 years until I left to have my 3rd child. My next job lasted 14 years where I climbed the corporate ladder very quickly and became Vice President and number 2 in charge. After 21 years of abuse I divorced.... 2 years later married my high school crush, became a blended family with 6 children. 5 years into that marriage we were empty nesters so we moved to Florida leaving all 6 adult children and 1 grand child behind. Here I am 13 years later..... have gone through some of the worst and some of the best years of my life within the last 5 years. So who am I...I am a, Wife, Mother, Grandmother , a survivor of domestic violence, forgiver of betrayal, strong and I am so thankful to God for giving me this life.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40? Challenges: Upon my 40th birthday I found myself getting my final divorce papers after a 21 year abusive marriage. Although I was overjoyed it was also bittersweet as I thought my children were going to suffer from me being a single mom. What I came to realize is they suffered more because I stayed too long. The challenges I had with them were far greater because of the things they saw and heard. A few years into my second marriage not only dealing with a blended family and 3 step-children that did not think highly of me.. my teenage daughter became pregnant and my youngest son became a drug addict. I Lost my 14-year job. My husband lost his job a couple of months later. There we were a family of 8 once making 6-figure income now on food stamps wondering how we were going to keep our house.
Success: My life since turning 40 has been my growing up years. Since I "grew up" into adulting very quickly with a child at 19... I didn't have much time to work on myself so after 40 when my kids were entering their adulthood it was my time to shine. Once we moved to Florida our business flourished, we found friends and community we loved and found my dream job and have thrived in it. It hasn't all been easy... we have had some bad times but now coming out of those my marriage is better than ever, my kids and grandkids are thriving.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
I have had several proud moments but here are a couple -- I ran a women's domestic violence shelter when I was divorcing my 1st husband... the women used to tell me... you look so nice, you drive a nice car.... how could you be like us. We held a fundraiser where we were able to raise a lot of money for the shelter and I would speak and tell my story it was called "beyond the mask". I was the all American professional with a mask. I was very proud of coming out of that and being able to help other women get on their feet and thrive with a new life. Proud Moment -- When I became a marriage coach along with my husband helping other couples rebuild and restore their marriages. I have walked through the very hard process of betrayal where I have had to learn to forgive and offer grace. I have seen my (second) marriage go from almost divorce to better than I could have ever imagined. It took a lot of work to get there but I am so proud I put in the effort!
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I need to work on celebrating myself....... I don't do this!
What are you passionate about?
I love my job... I can work all hours of the day and never complain. I am also passionate about helping women maneuver marriage crisis and help them to understand what it is to be in a God-centered marriage. How to forgive, give grace and what restoration could look like.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
Yes... Before 40 it was all about climbing the corporate ladder, getting as high as I could go to be in control. I did that... I reached that goal. Now... I want to inspire people to live a happy life and be able to have the tools to manage challenges especially when it comes to having good marriages and seeking God's design for them. I love talking to women and letting them know it is not always an easy walk through certain situations, lord knows it would have been much easier for me to walk away from my second marriage, but getting to the other side has been so rewarding and worth the hard work.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Myth: That we need to shrivel up, cover up and feel like someone's grandma. I like to wear sexier clothes now than I did before I was 40. At 59 (menopause) I started a journey of hormone therapy, lifting weights, better diet and longer hair. I feel better than I have in many years. I am going into my sixties with more vitality than I did when I went into my 40's.....but I am also much happier in life. Happiness is truly the key youthfulness!
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Know that if you are married you are not the reason your spouse makes bad choices. It is their choices... You my dear, are worthy of love and being cherished at the highest levels. Women are stronger than they allow themselves to be. When we really reach deep down we can love hard, forgive deeply and we have extreme strength. Never forget your position of strength isn't anger, bitterness, or retaliation. It's humility.

Life is a journey of LESSONS. Embrace each one. Learn from them, Leave some of them as a better person, and leave some of them knowing you will never do that again! You can't plan it all out....so don't try. The best things in my life have come from moments that I never expected ...good and bad!

Lysa Terkeurst -- Christian Author She suffered betrayal in her marriage, handled it wrong, handled it right, divorced, learned how to forgive.... all of the things I have experienced but she came out on the other side with a closer relationship to God and now traveling around the world speaking into and encouraging women helping them to heal their hearts.What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
Being a teenage mom is something I don't wish on any young woman. The decisions that go along with having a child are very hard! I had many thoughts of abortion, adoption and how having a child was going to ruin my career. I am so grateful that I made the decision to keep my son -- I couldn't imagine by life without him. I am an artist and an art teacher I have 2 beautiful daughters. I am a cancer survivor. I had an aesthetic flat closure procedure which is the removal of implants (if you have implants) where extra skin, fat and breast tissues are removed to leave a smooth flat chest wall. As an advocate for body positivity, it is essential to have a positive body image to be able to accept yourself the way you are, specially for breast cancer survivors since we go through so much stress with our bodies, we carry multiple physical and emotional scars and many like me end up breast less.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Some of my Challenges were to raise two teenagers by myself, while trying to manage my career. Some of my successes were achieving my professional goals and raising my daughters by myself.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My proudest moments in life were when my daughters were born and see them now as responsible adults.
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
My favorite way to celebrate myself is to enjoy moments with the people that I love, paint and work out.

I would tell them to do it, I think is worth it, because it creates an environment of strength among women and this is what women needs at this moment. I started a second career teaching in my late 30s. My challenge is balancing work and my personal life. I failed the bar exam in my 20s and ironically, I help people pass the bar exam daily in my 40s.

I was awarded Junior Faculty of the Year in 2024 by the Society of American Law Teachers. (SALT)
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I love to travel and explore new places and food.

I’m passionate about access to the law and justice. I will never be on the Supreme Court like my hero Thurgood Marshall and Kentanji Brown Jackson but I play my small role helping people pass the bar exam.

I’m a Photobooth owner that has a unique way of capturing content. I interview people at Events so they can say what they feel about a person place or a thing I’ve created a system that will brand each video and it’s instantly shareable to the person. I’m interviewing I also do roaming photography. Content creation is prominent in my business because I can see what people need to show others. After an event. I have the eye for what makes great post event content. I learned how to edit years ago because I had issues with videographers so I edit very well and I also teach editing. I shared what I do because it tells a lot about myself. I enjoy capturing content because I know how much it can help others when they are seen and heard. I really enjoy seeing entrepreneurs get to their next level. I love to support other entrepreneurs in anyway that I can. I love strategic planning. I also love being very spontaneous. I think you you can have a lot of fun when you are open to whatever the day brings I have taken many last-minute trips even out of the country. I always meet people wherever I go, so I’m never truly alone. I am a people person until I want to retreat and spend time with myself. I am very creative which spills over into my business life as well as my personal. I enjoy the beach because I love the sound of the waves. I love the sun until it makes me too. Hot brownies are my favorite dessert, especially the gooey ones with walnuts. I am an empty nester, which gives me freedom to enjoy the day as well as doing all sorts of projects. I will be 50 next year, but I very seldom remember my age because I don’t feel my actual age and I sure don’t look like it either my goal is to get up smile and enjoy all the moments that the day brings.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40? I have started two new careers since I’ve been 40. One day I decided I no longer wanted to pursue the lifelong career of being in the beauty industry, and when this feeling came on, it came on super strong there was no denying it. One of my personal challenges has been getting into a new relationship after being divorced. I think the good issue is that I know what I want and I also know what I don’t want. My proudest moments were doing all of the white picket fence things which were becoming a mom getting married by my home and starting my business
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I celebrate myself by going to the gym, having lunch and ordering whatever I want also going to the beach. It’s also just simply opening a bottle of wine and putting my feet up to relax.

I’m passionate about recognizing what other women need and supporting them with strategic planning and helping with visibility I believe that once people know who you are and what you do you have a bigger chance at success.

I have always desired, true wealth. I still aspire to be very wealthy and if you want to know why it’s because I can fully support myself without blinking an eye I can also support my family.

About me, I am a passionate person. I love love. I love people. I love dance. I love the arts. I love theater. My heart is filled with love. I treasure my friendships. I truly do. That's really what who I'm about. I'm also a straightforward and very direct kind of person. I like to laugh and giggle and just find the joys of life. My favorite place to be is on the beach. My second favorite place to be is probably in an airplane on my way somewhere, most likely to an where the water is blue and beautiful. I like the simple things in life. I don't need a whole lot. I just need peace, tranquility and love.
What are the challenges and/or successes have you had since you turned 40?
Life is merely a challenge. Since I turn 40 I would say that my mindset helped me overcome life challenges. At 40 my mind says that I need to start thinking more about myself and doing things that made me happy and the challenge in that was to really stay focused on me and being able to make choices that were good just for me.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My proudest moments in life. My first would be my children. I am proud to be a mother. I am proud of the way I love them. I'm proud of the way they love me. Yes, we have ups and downs but I am proud of that. I am proud of the fact that when my mother passed I was 22 and I was on my own to figure it out and I did. My dad was there but he had remarried moved to Virginia. I was still in New York. He had a wife and three little babies so he focused on. I figured it out on my own terms. I survived as a single mother in New York raising my two children and we didn't go without. We struggled but we didn't go without. I persevered through it all and I feel very proud of that. I'm also very proud that I am a published author, self-publish but published, nonetheless. I write poetry and I've kept it to myself most of my life. And one day it just came over me that I needed to publish and a friend of mine pushed me to that. I wrote a book of poetry and then I followed up about 3 years later with a book of affirmations. Very proud of that work. My last proudest moment was recently I won Sales Master at my job which has been my life career. I was one of 12 Masters to win out of 2,800 employees in a global company and I won a trip to Denmark, and I took my youngest son Omari with me.What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
I have quite a few favorite ways to celebrate me. Trips, fine dining, clothes, jewelry, massage & facial combo, and a luxury experiences. Of late. I'm finding that I celebrate myself more in the gym as I define my body and bring it back to the healthy place, I want to be in.What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about me, my children, life, love, poetry, peace, the arts, happiness, family, friends and the beach.How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
My ambitions have always been the same, grow. Keep growing never stop growing. My ambition is growth in all aspects of my life. Grow in self-improvement, how I mother my children, how I excel in my career, growth in my relationships, just growth. Turning 40 made me focus on my growth. Growth is never ending.Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
We are not old and washed up. Our life, our best life truly begins over 40. Over 40 is when you truly come into your own and are more self-aware and self-pleasing.If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
My one message I would give women is to please thyself to thy own self be true. This does not mean selfishness or conceit. It does mean to understand your boundaries and to be choosy about the people you let in your circle. Be authentic.Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?
Yes of course, my favorite mantra is one that I wrote and is in my Affirmations book, "Self-love is the most important love. It shall not be compromised and must be continuously developed and maintained. The beginning of self-love is accepting and loving you just as you are. Don’t allow anyone in your space to spew negativity about or against you in an attempt to compromise your self-love or self-esteem."What do you want younger women to know about aging?
I want younger women to know that eating healthy and working out is the way to the fountain of youth. Getting old and aging is not for the meek. It's not easy. Things happen to your body that you don't understand. You have aches and pains and what use to work doesn't work any more or at least not like it use to. I do know if you stay active, workout and eat well you will enter into your '50s, '60s and your '70s with a lot more grace & comfort. Aging is a privilege.Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My mother. She was a phenomenal woman. My mother left me way too soon but the time that I did have with her, she instilled something within me that I will never ever forget. She instilled the ability to see the glass half full always, to push forward always and to know that everything will work out in the end. She instilled self-esteem and confidence in me. My mother is and will always be my shero.What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
No hard lessons for me. I operate in a proactive manner.Has this photoshoot had impact on your life in any way?
I absolutely felt more confident and beautiful. I think every woman should do a photo shoot at least once. Well I’m about to turn 55 and I’ve been so blessed.
What are your proudest moments in your life?
My son. He will always be my greatest accomplishment
What is your favorite way to celebrate yourself?
Travel I try to visit 2 or 3 countries a year.
What are you passionate about?
My family and traveling to see the world.
How have your ambitions changed since you turned 40? What is something you are aspiring to achieve?
To see as many countries before I leave this world.
Are there any myths you would like to bust about women over 40s?
Yes age is just a number. Keep striving to do what you want.
If you had one message to give to other women to inspire and empower them, what would that message be?
Never give up even if you have people surrounding you giving you negative advice. You are capable of anything never let anyone tell you otherwise
Do you have a favorite poem, mantra, or quote that you think may inspire others?
Today can be the worse day of your life...but tomorrow may be the best day of your life! This to shall pass.
What do you want younger women to know about aging?
Embrace it.
Who is a woman who inspires you and why?
My mother..she has always given us unconditional love. Still does.
What is one lesson you've learned the hard way, but are now grateful for?
If someone hurts you forgive and move on. I don't allow anyone to hurt me twice.

Yes, I’ve never done anything like this before. I felt so beautiful
