About the Exhibition and Reception

For five years, photographer and artist Penny Fraser has photographed and interviewed remarkable women in their 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond for her annual 40 Over 40 Magazine & Art Exhibition.

The portraits and personal stories featured in each collection honor the participating women while celebrating the experiences, achievements and defining moments that have shaped their lives.

This fifth anniversary celebration will introduce the newest collection through a gallery style exhibition and the official launch of the 2026 40 Over 40 Magazine.

The Project Is Evolving

The 40 Over 40 project continues to evolve beyond its annual portraits, interviews, magazine and exhibition.

The project now includes complimentary community gatherings that invite women to connect, share their experiences and participate in creative activities in welcoming spaces. These gatherings are helping the project grow into a broader community experience centered on storytelling, connection and artistic expression.

Phase Two will expand the project through a new collection of mixed media artwork inspired by the portraits, stories and experiences shared through the 40 Over 40 project.

By bringing photography together with painting and other artistic elements, Penny will create new visual interpretations that explore the women’s stories in another form.

Phase Two is planned to culminate in a public exhibition in September 2027. Admission to that 2027 exhibition will be complimentary, allowing the community to experience the artwork and celebrate the women and stories that inspired it.
